Custom Domain for Organisation

Want to have a custom domain for better branding for your event site and your organisation? It is now possible on EventX event platform 

NOTE:  

  • Each Custom Domain is binded to your Organisation, you can have multiple events within an Organisation. You can define the path for your event.
  • The domain owner will need to create CNAME record. Then, the detailed instructions will be shared by EventX engineering team


Custom Domain

With a custom domain, you can have the event site (eg: https://demo.event.day) as shown below instead of using the default site https://spot.eventx.io/events/{{event_id}}

In this example,
https://demo.event.day is a custom domain
You can bind https://demo.event.day/event01 and https://demo.event.day/event02 to your events within your organisation.




You can define the redirect URL for the default landing page for the custom domain. 




Mainland China Accessibility

Mainland China accessibility will not be guaranteed for your own custom domain, as EventX cannot control the nameserver for the custom domain. For Mainland China location browsing, the event URL will be redirect to EventX Mainland China friendly domain (https://spot.eventx.com.cn/eventx/{{event_id}})

You will need to add a CNAME record on your preferred custom domain.

eg. https://demo.event.day

Type: CNAME
Name: demo
Value: esaas-custom-domain.eventx.io

Then add a TXT record on the same custom domain for verification

Type: TXT
Name: @
Value: {{this value will be provided by our team}}


Domain Provider Limitation

Some domain providers (eg. Godaddy) don't allow setting CNAME on the root domain (http://event.day). You will need to use a subdomain (https://demo.event.day) for a custom domain. If you intended to use the root domain as the custom domain for your event, you can set up the custom domain on the cname www. Then do a URL forward the root domain (https://event.day) to (https://www.event.day)

 

Troubleshooting

To verify if the record is inputted correctly, you may verify the record on https://mxtoolbox.com/CNAMELookup.aspx
